Well, that would explain it!

A few times lately, Aviana has said to me, “It’s dark now. I’ll take out my barrette.” Or “The sun went down, I want to take out my ponytail.”

I never really understood why she made this logic leap until today. We were pretending to go to the beach, and she was packing her bag. She put in sand, a towel, beads, and sunglasses, “so my brains won’t come out of my face.”

Suddenly, I got it! I tell her we’re going to put in the barrette or ponytail to keep her bangs out of her face and she somehow juxtaposes that with keeping the sun out of her eyes when we’re in the car.

Sunglasses: so your brains won’t come out of your face.
