um…Yum?

Last night, Brielle and I made the most delicious cake in the world. It’s called Mocha Layer Cake. It’s about the only kind of chocolate cake I can honestly say I love. I love chocolate, but generally, I don’t like chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream. I know, I’m an odd duck. Anyway.

The cake doesn’t turn out so well if you forget to put in flour. Pretty key ingredient that.

In other, completely unrelated news, I’m looking for a tee shirt to buy that reads:
I used to have a mind, but now I have small children.

I did manage to salvage some semblance of the cake however, and oh yes, we’ve been eating it.

  1. If you can’t find a t-shirt already made you could always make one 🙂 I did that for Daniel’s birthday last year. I used spreadshirt.com but there are a ton of companies that make custom t-shirts.

Daniel’s reads: I don’t know if you realize this but I’m kind of a big deal.

    It was perfection.

The next one I want to make for him is one that reads: Suck it up, princess.

He was leading Crossfit workouts for his squadron and that shirt would have really fit the bill 😉

Good luck on your t-shirt quest!

  2. My husband did the same thing once. Poor guy was trying so hard to be sweet and make me homemade brownies on a bad day…That flour sure is vital. It was basically a big pile of sugary oil, haha!

  3. My hubby tried to make pancakes one time and used powdered sugar instead of flour. I was like how on earth could you not tell the difference!? haha! So, now my jars are labeled.

email me I need to send you a picture of my fabulous new retro stools I got and for some reason i can’t find your email.

  4. And it’s probably delicious. 🙂

I tend to say “I’m losing my mind” when things like that happen, until a few months ago when my 14 yo asked, “Mom, how many times do you get to say that before you admit it’s long gone.” LOL. Good point.

  5. HAHAHA. THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING I’D DO. ONCE I MADE THIS REALLLLLLLY GOOD BAKED OATMEAL WHILE WE HAD OUR SWEET FRIENDS OVER. SHE LOVED IT, ASKED FOR THE RECIPE, AND I GAVE IT TO HER. SHE CALLED ME A WEEK LATER AND SAID IT JUST DIDN’T TASTE RIGHT…….I FORGOT TO TELL HER TO ADD ONE KEY INGREDIENT….THE SUGAR!!!!

  6. I’m pretty much with you on the chocolate. I absolutely LOVE dark chocolate but have never much cared for chocolate cake. It has to be either intentionally flourless 🙂 chocolate cake (which is almost like fudge) or a really moist one with ganache instead of frosting. I don’t care for plain chocolate ice cream either.
