Twenty Weeks Pregnant–Baby’s Half Baked!

Our baby weighs about 10.5 ounces and measures about 7.2 inches from crown to rump. He still moves about freely in amniotic fluid. At the ultrasound, the tech said everything looks perfect. She was measuring that our due date might be July 17 (10 days earlier) but since we do Natural Family Planning, I am pretty positive exactly when we got pregnant.

Our baby may respond to external sounds, such as the music I am listening to or my voice.

Our baby has developed some red blood cells already. The white blood cells that our baby needs to fight infections are being manufactured.

She is developing taste buds on her tongue.

His digestive system is sufficiently advanced to absorb water and sugar from the amniotic fluid that he swallows and pass it to his large bowel.

Our baby has lanugo hair on her forehead and upper lip and her eyebrows are thickening.

Vernix (the waxy substance that covers and protects our baby’s skin) accumulates on our baby’s eyebrows.

Our baby’s eyes are still sealed shut.

Our baby continues to grow and develop and her kicking is getting stronger now. Kevin felt him move for the first time last night!

Yeah, and how brave am I, posting a picture of me sans make-up for all the world to see?!

  1. I love the pictures! I’m laughing because it seems as the baby gets bigger, your hair gets shorter!
My daughter is expecting her 3rd also. She is only 15 weeks so we have to wait to see what she’s having. She has a boy (2) and a girl (10 months) – yeah, she’s busy!
I love all the information you gave about what he/she is doing and growing. So fascinating!
