These girls love their Dada. They are enthralled with watching him fill up the storage box for the corn burning stove.

The link shows one like ours, same model and everything; though ours is cream in color.

Kevin is wonderfully innovative. He put in an auger system to the garage, so he just has to lift a lid and corn comes down the chute. He fills the stove morning and evening, which amounts to about a bushel a day. A renewable resource, as well as saving us lots of money in heating costs. We have high ceilings in this 150 year old home and no reasonable way to put insulation in our double lathe walls, so every little bit helps. Kevin also sells cleaned corn to others with corn burning stoves and furnaces. I’m so proud of him.

  1. Wow, a corn stove! I’ve never heard of such a thing, but it sounds pretty great. I think I may look into it for next winter. Do you mind if I ask you the general price range for the model you have? I can’t imagine we would use half as much corn as y’all; I think we’ve only turned out heater on three times this year. That’s Texas, lol!!

Thanks so much for stopping by my site, and for your kind words. They made my day! I’ve been contemplating Flylady … I think she has some good ideas, but I’m not crazy about the overall concept. Look forward to reading your blog!

    God bless,
