For Today…
Outside my Window…morning doves are calling to each other atop our well roof while the sun glints off the golden topped cornfield across the road and maple trees sway in the cool autumn breeze
I am thinking…I should start wearing slippers when I get up in the morning because it’s chilly!
From the learning rooms…homemade play-doh with which to form letters and practice fine motor skills, the weather calendar, fall crafts, reading aloud and more reading aloud
I am thankful for…the Sabbath day and our renewed commitment to keep it holy
From the kitchen…roasted pork tenderloin with pear chutney, am looking for a duck recipe, and one for the squash I have waiting on the counter for our family dinner tonight. My sister, BIL and their three, my parents and my cousin are joining us! Love me some family time!
I am wearing…my pink and grey striped summer weight robe. I am thinking it’s time to break out the heavy purple one.
I am reading…Learning All the Time by John Holt–it’s FIN-AH-MEH-NUL! I am learning so much about the way in which I was taught and how that disservce affects me to this day. While reading the section on math, I was talking out loud to the book every few paragraphs! I still remember getting physically ill and agonizing over the Mad Minutes (speed math facts) when I was nine, and never feeling like a ‘math’ person. This one chapter is actually helping understand numbers in a way no one else has ever done!
Escape by Carolyn Jessop–her autobiographical account of growing up in the FLDS polygamist sect that was recently in the news because of the abuse and underage marriages. It’s not the best written book I’ve ever read as far as the prose goes, but the subject matter is startling! It’s nearly impossible to believe someone of my generation could be living like that in modern America!
I am hoping… I lost weight this week
I am creating…(I hope) a home in which we love and delight ourselves in God and each other
I am hearing…Cadrian’s crickets on his swing and my new favorite website Pandora
Around the house…lots o’ laundry, getting the girls’ toys and books moved and reorganized so Brielle can’t make such a mess during quiet time, picking up the house for our get together tonight, getting out the harvest decorations, finding what I did with our Command Picture hangers (you can’t put nails in plaster very easily) so I can get our birth/marriage samplers and newborn pictures up on the wall
One of my favorite things…down comforters, cozying up between my little man and my big one, and sleeping past sunrise
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…taking my sister’s maternity portraits and family pictures, a girls’ night at my favorite restaurant and our big annual harvest hayride
‘I am creating…(I hope) a home in which we love and delight ourselves in God and each other’

When o when are we going to do the next It’s Real Life?!!!
Cool post! I LOVE pork tenderloin, although I have never made it. If you have a recipe to share with me, I’d love to see it. (Or heck, even tell me what it looks like at the store, I haven’t been able to find it) How pathetic is this?
