1. Does your family send out Christmas cards?
Of course–this is one my favorite Christmas traditions–I usually have a letter too, and a photo
2. How soon do you start shopping?
I shop sales all year round and put them in the Christmas closet.
3. Who do you shop for?
My girls and Darlin’ man
4. Do you put up a Christmas tree?
Yes
5. If so, is it fake or real?
Fake for the first time
6. Do you like tinsel?
No
7. Do you use homemade or store bought ornaments?
Store bought, but I’m sure it won’t be long before we start getting lots of homemade ones
8. Do you put Christmas lights outside your house?
This year we put lights on two of our front yard trees
9. Do you put lights on the tree?
Pre-lit
10. How about popcorn and cranberries?
Nope, good idea for when the girls are older though
11. Is there a wreath hanging on your door?
Yes-pre-lit
12. Do you celebrate Christmas Eve?
Odd question–I loved as a girl when we walked to Midnight Mass at my grandma’s Episcopal cathedral but now we go to five o’clock service with Kevin’s parents (bedtimes, you know)
It was my grandpa’s birthday, so we had angel food cake too
13. Do you hang up your stocking?
They are hung
14. Does your family read “Twas the night before Christmas?”
Read it today as a matter of fact. My version is a Little Golden Book, that cost $.39, vintage from 1949…I love the illustrations. I love all things vintage and Christmas incidentally (vintage to me meaning 40’s and 50’s, maybe early 60’s)

27. What do you want for Christmas this year? I already got it–a cleaning lady! Do I have the best husband in the world or what?
28. When do you open your gifts? Christmas morning, or when the family gets together
29. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten? The house cleaner definitely tops the list, but last year’s Adobe Photoshop Elements was swell too; too bad I’m not better at it
30. What’s the worst gift you’ve ever gotten? Red pens stolen from the school, and gum, from my stupid secret Santa when I was teaching

32. Have you ever had a secret Santa? Yes, I did the Secret Santa thing every year I taught. It was not always that bad though.
33. Do you like wrapping gifts? Generally
34. Do you put change in those red buckets? When I feel like it
35. Do you burn a yule log? No. we burn trash though.
36. Can you name all the reindeer? Yes.
37. Do you bake cookies? Yes–Usually just one or two kinds.

39. Have you ever gotten a kiss under the mistletoe? Yep
40. Do you go caroling? Not lately
41. Do you drive around and look at the Christmas lights? Again with the bedtime thing
42. Have you ever left Santa cookies? Yes, even though I always knew he didn’t exist

45. Where do you celebrate Christmas? My home, in-laws’, parents’
44. Who do you celebrate Christmas with? Family
46. Have you ever had a white Christmas? Nearly every year
47. What part of Christmas do you look most forward to? All of it–but most especially being with my family
48. Have you ever had your picture taken with Santa? Yet again, yes
49. Does your family always take a picture at Christmas? I take pictures almost every day; what do you think?
50. Have you ever heard the song “Thank God For Kids” by The Oakridge Boys? I have no idea. I’m going to look it up right now and find out.

  1. Jessica, How lucky can you get. A cleaning lady. I am so jealous. Actually I would be thrilled if Kristen would just pick up after herself with out me reminding her over and over and over and over and over……. you get the idea. She is one stronged willed child.
