Kevin and I had a date day today. We took the girls over to my wonderful sister and brother-in-law’s and we went on a little day trip.
We met with our HOME BIRTH MIDWIFE (yep, we decided–hooray!) and went out to lunch and to a bunch of unique little boutique-y shops and stores.
We’re standing side-by-side in front of a display of children’s books, puzzles, and toys. I’m perusing the pregnancy and childbirth section right next to it, not really paying attention to what Kevin is looking at.
He breaks into my thoughts, asking, “Do you think it’s too early to buy this for our son?”
He holds up a kit filled with rockets and a rocket launcher!

Oooooooh! Yay, homebirth!! 🙂 Yes, boys (regardless of how old or seemingly mature they are) will be boys. John was so excited when David, our third, was born and we saw that he was a boy. He loves our daughter, but he’s not always entirely sure what to do with her … But then again, no one is!
Those chicks are too cute. I can’t wait until we can buy a bigger place in a few years and have lots and lots of chickens, to sell eggs and raise for meat. We’ve only got room for our little flock of about 10 right now. Hope the girls have fun with the chickies!
That is really sweet. Daddy looking forward to his first son. Can’t express enough what a sweet family you have! I am anxious to follow your experience with home birth. I am a “grandma’ now and well pass my child bearing age but how I wish I could have had all the knowledge that ‘mom’s to be’ have now. It would have made things so much easier. I witness the birth of four of my grandchildren and just this February witness the birth of my first great-grandchild. It was so wonderful. God Bless you and your sweet family and my prayers are with you on this exciting journey.
Sounds like a man to me!
Thanks for the comment on my blog…I love new bloggy friends!
Do you know what you are having? Another girl? A boy to add to the mix? I love babies!
jim is the same way- he has all kinds of plans for hudson! if i hadn’t had a girl right away, i would’ve had some plans for a future one, too, i suppose! i’m glad you’re so excited about the new birth option!
