Baby Doctor

I really am wearing shorts–they are just obscured by the mass that is our baby.

We received our Birth Kit the other day. Opening that little package made our impending birth seem like it’s really getting close now! Kevin got a big kick out of the “1-bed pan, mauve” and the one-size-fits-all stretch briefs included in the kit. He’s a honey, but seriously, such a guy.

And this morning, Aviana told my parents, “We’re doeing to have our baby wight hewre in dis house. So evewry body tan tum ovewr to watch!”

I think she has me mixed up with A Baby Story.

  1. Thanks for the China link 🙂 It was late last night when I posted (for a contest) and I was trying not to offend anyone by mentioning countries, but you got my drift!!!

Are you having the baby at home? I know you have a midwife but I wasn’t sure . . . I had all three of my little ones at home with a midwife. Looking forward to reading news of a new baby one day soon 🙂

  2. Cute post! Looks like you are in good hands. Is this your first home birth? I know I read your post about your first birth being in the hospital, but didn’t know about your second. Looking forward to hearing the good news soon.

  3. Hey! What an “excellent” idea. You could do a special blog version of The Baby Story! Farm Fresh Delivery! Seriously, enjoy the last few weeks!

  4. Love the “One bedpan-Mauve!” And of course your little sweetie’s comments…maybe you should go ahead and call “A Baby Story!” 😉

Adding you to my must-read list on my blog!

  5. I’ve only been reading your blog for a little while, and was wondering if you were planning a home birth. Now I know you are! How exciting! I’d love to do that with my next, but my husband is a bit aprehensive. I can’t wait to read about how it goes for you.

  6. Hey there! Yeah, I know those “underwear”. Keeps the icepak in reeeeeal well. Love goes out to ya, honey. P.S- I added you to my favorite links! you gotta come see!
    hope you’re feeling ok!

  7. Ohhhhhhhhhhh! So cool about the birth kit?! Are you having a home birth?! That would be so awesome! You’re brave… I don’t think I could hack it. I love hospitals (used to work in one).

  8. I’ll help Aviana do the invites for the neighbours, you can paint your toenails to create more impact, the kids can put on a concert on the dining room table (with dvd’s on sale at the door) and your hubby can run a sausage sizzle out the back.

    We’d make a mint! 😉

  9. Oh, goodness, but I love those stretchy undies!! I ordered two extra pair with my last birth kit … and I’m ordering more than that this time!

That’s great that she’s so excited about helping with the baby. Evie was completely heartbroken when we told her she couldn’t be in the room when the baby is actually born … but then we told her that she and her siblings are going to be allowed to stay at home, and she was slightly mollified. She wants to be a midwife when she grows up. Hey, you have to admire an almost-5-year-old with goals!

I can’t wait to hear all about your homebirth. I hope you love it as much as I loved my first one. Many prayers for you, Kevin, and your midwife.
